What's behind MSN.com's latest PageRank 2 rating from Google? Oct. 22, 2005
The Web's page ranking practitioners and enthusiasts are abuzz over the latest
Google PageRank update, showing MSN.com with a PR2.
"Post-mortem" (as they are sometimes known) analysts offered their divergent opinions. One analyst posited the theory that this
has something to do with the site's linking strategy.
Still another analyst opined this is just a temporary thing and sooner than you might think MSN.com will once
again move back to its lofty position (Webmaster's note: if indeed this will happen, I pray this web site's
PR4 will not get jolted down :-)).
Another analyst ventured to ask if MSN.com is using SEO Expert Brad Fallon's linking system?
Well, to end to all discussions on the matter, a clarification was printed on http://google.blognewschannel.com,
giving the following explanation:
"Basicall, what happened is that because of some 302 redirects, the MSN home page you land on has a PR2, but
the root MSN.com has a PR8. So, even though it appears MSN isn't doing so well, it does rank very well in Google results."
Will this end the buzz over MSN.com's PR2 score? Well, as they say, wait till the next typhoon comes.
